Course Overview
A baby chimp that is taken from its mother needs to be trained by caretakers to- properly behave as a chimp in its habitat. Its learned behaviour will match its biological needs, and with some luck, it will grow up to be a well-adjusted adult chimp. After all, not only genes get passed down from generation to generation, but also the way of living. All of this is observed and learned from early childhood in many species and of course also in humans. However, living as a human today in a civilised society differs greatly from what was true for countless generations only up until around 10,000 years ago, and yet our physical features and hormonal responses have changed only insignificantly in comparison. This course aims to provide an understanding of our origins, how we lived, and how these factors continue to influence our desires and well-being today.
