As part of its ongoing commitment to high-quality professional development, the ProCredit Academy recently offered a course in economics. Led by Dr. Goran Ridic, the course was designed as a deep dive into the principles of market behaviour, consumer decision-making and the role of institutions in shaping economic outcomes. A further objective was strengthening the economic and financial expertise of ProCredit staff.
Firsthand Insights from the European Central Bank
A highlight of the course was an excursion to the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt. The participants had the opportunity to examine the ECB’s operations, discuss current economic challenges with ECB staff and learn more about how economic principles intersect with monetary policy at the highest level.

“The visit to the European Central Bank was an interesting experience”, said Dr. Ridic. “It gave participants a concrete understanding of how micro-level decisions relate to macroeconomic policy and how institutions such as the ECB influence everyday economic life.”
Deepening Economic Expertise Through Theory and Practice
The economics course is part of the Banker Academy training programme, which includes courses in critical thinking, risk, economics, digitalisation, sustainability and more. The ProCredit Academy continues to play a key role in shaping a well-informed, socially responsible and analytically strong workforce within the ProCredit group.
By blending academic depth with practical insight, the Academy ensures that the participants are not only well-versed in theory, but also capable of applying this knowledge in their day-to-day roles across diverse markets.
